Student Approach to Assignment

The assignment given was to choose a controversial topic in obstetrics and discuss both sides of the topic unbiased. For this assignment I chose abortion as my topic and wrote a paper on the Pro Life vs. Pro Choice debate. This paper contains both sides of the argument and research to support each, and is intended for any women of childbearing age that may become pregnant or is pregnant and considering terminating to make an informed decision.

 

Reason for Inclusion of the Assignment in the Portfolio

I have chosen to include this assignment in my portfolio because it is a hot topic in obstetrics. I believe it demonstrates my ability to view both sides of an issue without including my personal opinion. This is an important skill in nursing care because there will ultimately be patients that require care that have made decisions that I may not agree with however I believe it is important to be able to keep an open mind and treat them with the same care I would give any other patient.
